After climbing outdoors for a few years, we decided that it might be
a good time to learn how to rescue ourselves if we ever got in trouble
up on the rock. Karl, Kirsten, Amy, Sarah and I met up at Karl's for a
day of practice. His swingset was perfect for stringing up a bunch of
ropes. We practiced our knot-tieing skills, ascending, and tried out several
different belay devices in our search for the best one to use in case
your belayer gets knocked out from rock fall.
